delicious Hot chocolate bombs

If you’re in need of some comfort and warmth during these cold months then try making some hot chocolate bombs. This is perfect for a gift for your loved ones or to just make your winter a bit sweeter!

Making time: 30 minutes

You will need:

  • 2 silicone moulds

  • A pastry brush

  • Hot chocolate powder

  • Marshmallows

  • 200g melted chocolate

  • Edible gold sparkle for decoration

Method:

First you are going to brush a thin layer of your melted chocolate onto each individual mould using your pastry brush, make sure it is completely covered then place it in the fridge for 10 minutes to harden.

Once out the fridge, brush another thin layer of chocolate on the now hardened chocolate then place it back in to harden for another 10 minutes.

After your chocolate has set, carefully remove silicone mould so you now are left with the shell for your hot chocolate bombs.

Now you can fill up one halve of the chocolate spheres. I added around 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate and a handful of marshmallows per chocolate bomb however you can add more or less depending on your preference.

Its now time to form your chocolate bombs; Place a metal spoon in some hot water until the spoon is heated, then using the back of the spoon gently run it along the edge of the top and bottom part to your sphere and carefully place together. If they are not fully sealed you can run the back of the spoon across the seal to melt both sides together. Once you have repeated this for all the chocolate, place in fridge for 5 minutes or until fully hardened.

This is where you can get creative and decorate your hot chocolate bombs! I decided to dust some edible gold glitter over the finished product to give it some sparkle however if you want to get curious you can decorate with other melted chocolate like white or ruby to give it a personal touch.

Now you’ve made your own festive hot chocolate bombs , just stir them into warm milk and enjoy!

Hot chocolate dates back over two thousand years, originating in the Aztec Empire. It started as a cacao bean based beverage with added spices and chili, served hot or cold.
